VE Day 80th Anniversary commemorations

​ At 9am Eastern Australian time, 8th May 2025, Hepburn Shire Town Crier Philip Greenbank took part in the VE Day 80th Anniversary, in front of the Creswick Cenotaph.

The English Pageantmaster Bruno Peek called upon Town Criers from around the world to take part and to read the VE Day 80 proclamation.
 
At 3pm on the 8th May 1945, England's Prime Minister Winston Churchill, officially announced the end of World War 2 from the Cabinet Office at 10 Downing Street, London.
 
Hepburn Shire Town Crier Philip Greenbank read "A Cry for Peace Around the World".
Ode of Remembrance

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them
