Maxwell James Slade book presentation

Book presentation - Saturday 13th January 2018 at 1030   1030.

Anthony (Tony) Fleet is the great nephew of a WW1 AIF Soldier by the name of Maxwell James Slade.

Maxwell was born at Kirkwell on Springmount. He served with the 38th Battalion from 16/3/1916 to 6/4/1919.
His family are some of the earliest settlers in this region and his mothers family first settled Jackass Gully.
Maxwell's name is on the Springmount state school honour roll and he also has tree E 90 in the Kingston Avenue of Honour.
He passed away 1/4/1975 and is buried in the Creswick cemetery in a grave that has no indication of his AIF service.

Anthony recently completed a book recording his life for our family and presented a copy to the Creswick Smeaton RSL.

Ode of Remembrance

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them
